JENNIFER YANCER

You have what it takes to feel better - I can help you get there.
Mental Health Therapy in Midland, MI

Nice to meet you, I'm Jennifer
My mission as a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor is to help you come home to your authentic self. Life’s stressors can pull us away from our values, our identity, and our sense of grounding. Together, we can create space to reconnect with what matters most to you.
My therapeutic style is relaxed, non-judgmental, and empowering. I believe you hold the wisdom you need, and my role is to support you as you uncover it. As a recipient of mental health counseling, I know how challenging life can be. My time as a yoga teacher taught me to value the mind–body connection. Sessions may incorporate breath work, mindfulness, or gentle movement when it feels helpful and comfortable for you.

I have experience working with concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and postpartum issues. Most recently I’ve counseled families in strengthening their bond with their little ones. In addition, I’ve worked with college students navigating test anxiety, career decisions, ADHD challenges, family trauma, and more.
Outside of the therapy room, you can usually find me with my husband and two kids. We love camping in the summer and fall and spending as much time as we can outdoors. Yoga continues to be essential to my own mental and physical well-being, and I love sharing that passion with others.

If this approach resonates with you, I’d be honored to work together. Let’s make it happen.

Jennifer believes therapy should be accessible to anyone who wants to invest in their healing, regardless of insurance status. She offers 55-minute sessions, both in person and online, at a sliding scale private pay rate. She also accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, Priority Health, Optum, Cigna, UMR, Evernorth, and Aetna.

Group Therapy
Group therapy offers something individual therapy cannot always provide: the chance to feel deeply understood by people who are navigating similar experiences.

Many people carry the quiet belief that they are the only ones struggling, falling short, feeling resentful, or having complicated emotions. In a supportive group, those feelings can become less isolating. Hearing others speak honestly can help reduce shame, build perspective, and remind you that your reactions make sense.

Group therapy also creates opportunities to practice vulnerability, communication, boundary-setting, and receiving support in real time. Members can learn from one another, celebrate progress together, and build meaningful connections in a space guided by a trained therapist.

You are never required to share more than feels comfortable. Participation can include speaking, listening, reflecting, and simply allowing yourself to be present.
A group made just for mamas.
The Village is an eight-week therapy group created for mothers who feel overwhelmed, stretched thin, disconnected from themselves, or exhausted by the pressure to do everything well. Each session includes 30 minutes of gentle, accessible yoga followed by 60 minutes of therapist-led group support and discussion.

Together, we will explore the emotional realities of modern motherhood, including anxiety, resentment, guilt, perfectionism, identity changes, relationship stress, invisible labor, and the challenge of caring for yourself while caring for everyone else.

This is a closed group, meaning the same members will attend throughout the eight weeks. That consistency allows participants to build trust, feel less alone, and create genuine connection with other mothers who understand.

No yoga experience is needed. Movement will be beginner-friendly, trauma-informed, and adaptable to different bodies and comfort levels.

You do not need to arrive calm, confident, or put together. You are welcome exactly as you are.

YOGA OFFERINGS
Jennifer currently teaches two classes on Tuesdays at Midland Strength Lab on East Wackerly in Midland, Michigan.

4:15 p.m. - Mobility + Unwind. This slower-paced class is designed to help you release tension, improve mobility, and reconnect with your body after a full day. We’ll blend gentle yoga, functional stretching, breathwork, and longer-held postures to support tight hips, shoulders, backs, and busy minds.
5:30 p.m. - Strength Lab Flow. A strong, steady yoga flow designed to build mobility, balance, stability, and body awareness. This class blends breath-led movement, functional strength, core engagement, standing postures, and a grounding cool-down.

Important note: While yoga is a wonderful addition to mental health therapy and can help support your therapeutic goals, it is not a substitute for mental health therapy. During this class, I am not working as a therapist but as a yoga teacher.
